Evolution and my Conversion

This excessively long post is actually an e-mail that went out to a group of earnest ladies wading through Nancy Pearcey's book: Total Truth. It was in response to the origins debate within and outside of faith circles. I am posting it because it came up recently with a new friend at my church. She is highly educated. She works at a prestigious hospital in Ottawa and knows more about physics than I ever will. She's struggling with aligning the Biblical narrative (Ahh.... narrative or historical? I won’t out them here, not full names at least, but I can name four women who I knew personally while I was in the military who were on par with the men at RMC: Tanya, Clare, Evelyn, and Barb. I can remember their names, 30 years out, because these were, and are, really exceptional women. Many of them are still in the ring, holding their own. Given the events of this past weekend, there’s questions about women in a secret service capacity. Only a few days prior to the current discussion, which was brought on by Trump's assassination attempt, the House of Representatives passed an updated version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which allows the U.S. government to automatically register men ages 18 to 25 into the Selective Service, or draft system. This new version of the bill opened up the possibility of women being drafted for mandatory military service. 40th

Jason turned 40 this past week and we celebrated it for a full week. I have lots of things to say about this man and the work the Lord has done in and through him. I am so grateful for his testimony. I am over-blessed by God's mercy in giving saving faith to Jason. I have lots of pithy things to say about why I like Jason so much, but the biggest reason is found in Ezekiel 22:30. The prophet speaks for God saying, " And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land." Jason has been a foretaste of the faithfulness that can only be found in our shared Saviour, Jesus Christ. He is a gap-standing-man and I so very, very glad he was born.

The Forth bi-annual Kidd Road Piano Recital

We had an age range of 8 years old to 92 years young at the recent Kidd Rd piano recital. The Van Boys, as they are known, have started taking lessons from the amazing Yulia Brenar, and you can tell. I am very thankful for musical parents, neighbours, teachers and friends who have loved and supported my kids, and to my long-suffering mother, who made be practice and talked me off several ledges through this journey that is taking piano lessons.
