Colbourne Robert James Braden is thirteen today.
Cole came into the world in a fury of speed and energy and he has run like that ever since. He is the loving steward of many, many living things around this place. Cows. Lizards. Chickens. Various and sundry insects and spiders found in the house...
If there is person I would want at my bedside, as mediator and 'Lord Protector' against the powers that be, it would be Cole. He is ferociously loyal. He is almost intolerably honest. He is an ardent idealist and wonderful company.
I am so thankful for this son.
He is no longer a child today. He is a mensch: an "upright man of integrity." Both his grandfathers were working men at this age. Robert, as a metal worker on military vehicles and, John, as a riveter on the bridges in Toronto.
Cole, you come from sturdy stock and by God's grace, you are already doing your family proud. Lean on Him. Cling to Christ for your strength, my boy. Dedicate your plans to His Glory and He will bless them. Prov 16:3
Proverbs 21:21 He who pursues righteousness and loyalty finds life, righteousness and honour.
